Globalfest 2022

Join us for THE fair trade party of the year. This year Globalfest will be held on a Saturday night at the beautiful, historic Newberry Library! You can count on live Latin music, tasty fusion cuisine featuring heavy appetizers and a guacamole bar, a fair trade cookie buffet, libations (as always, an open bar!), and our stellar silent auction.

This year, Steve Bynum, WBEZ’s Manager of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and former Senior Producer of Worldview, and CFT board member Jerome McDonnell, host of Worldview, will serve as Emcees.

Now in its sixteenth year, Globalfest is a time for the whole fair trade community to come together and celebrate. We hope you’ll join us to meet up with old friends and make new connections!

Every year at Globalfest, we present our Changemaker Award to an organization or person who is advancing fair trade in and around Chicago. We are thrilled to announce that last year’s Changemaker recipient Nasreen Sheikh will present this year’s award. 2022’s very worthy winner: Whitney Young High School!

Since starting up a brand-new Fair Trade Club in 2018, and becoming Chicago’s very first Fair Trade designated school a year later, Whitney Young has continued to do amazing work to educate and inspire the next generation of fair trade leaders.
