Mend with Friends: A Beginner-Friendly Monthly Mending Workshop
Did you know there is already enough clothing on the planet for the next six generations?
One way you can join the fight against fashion waste – and save money – is to extend the life of garments you already own. That’s where mending comes in! Mending your clothes keeps them out of the landfill and lets you hold onto your favorite pieces longer.
Join us to mend together in community!
Whether you’re a seasoned stitcher or a total newbie, all are invited to join us for our monthly mending workshop at the Chicago Fair Trade Museum. Held on the third Thursday of every month from 5.30-8pm, all are welcome to join us and enjoy mending together in community. Bring your friends along or just show up and make new ones!
Instruction and supplies will be provided.
Professional fiber artist Kristine Brandel will be on hand to help you out, and we will provide all the basic supplies you need to hand-repair your woven and knitted items (feel free to bring along your own needles/thread/supplies if you’d like to). All you need to do is bring along something to repair!

About Chicago Fair Trade
This workshop is hosted by Chicago Fair Trade (CFT), a nonprofit that promotes fair trade: an alternative business model that alleviates poverty and protects the planet. As the largest grassroots fair trade coalition in the US, CFT educates Chicagoans about ethical trading practices, challenges corporate malpractice through advocacy, and runs the world’s first fair trade museum in Uptown.
