Salay Handmade Paper Industries (SHAPII) of Salay, Mindanao, the Philippines. Salay is a 400-member worker-owned cooperative producing handmade paper cards, stationery, boxes, frames, calendars and other stationery products using sustainable practices and wastewater treatment that is state of the art.

The group was initially composed of only 10 civic-minded locals who had no formal art education. Today, however, after continuous research and training in design and processing, SHAPII is contributing significantly to the development of Salay and the Philippines and is a source of inspiration to other entrepreneurs.

 With part of their earnings, the cooperative support nearly 40 local youth attending high school and college. They send the most deserving students they can find from their area.
